Pet Owner Resources!
As a rescue that operates solely out of foster homes, we do not have the resources or space to accept owner surrenders or strays. Below you will find some helpful tips to keep your pet in their homes and reduce the number of pets surrendered to the local shelter.
Our Local County Shelter System: If you are planning on surrendering your pet to the local shelter, please understand that your dog will not automatically become adoptable and be placed into a new home. To become adoptable your pet must pass all of it's evaluations. If your pet fails an item on the test they most likely will be placed on the euthanasia list. Although your pet may be great in your home, that does not necessarily mean they will pass their evaluation. The shelter is an extremely stressful, loud, and scary environment for your pet. Your dog will be confused, scared, and wondering when you will be returning for him. It is extremely common for a dog with amazing temperament to fail it's evaluations because the dog is scared and stressed.
Local Dog Trainers and Behaviorists:
If your dog is exhibiting "aggression" towards humans or other dogs or other unwanted behavior, there are plenty of wonderful trainers all throughout the area that can help. We recommend calling each trainer listed below to find which training styles, location, and price are right for you! Most of these trainers offer in-home training and some have a facility. Remmber, most issues are solved simply by providing your dog with more exercise!
